Leventhorpe Free Big Draw Event - Living Paintings

12 Oct

The Late Night Big Draw is running for a second year at Leventhorpe School on Thursday 12th October 2017.

We are joining the world’s biggest drawing festival and will be inviting everyone in the local community to take part. The Big Draw is part of the organisation The Campaign for Drawing, whose one aim is to promote visual literacy and get everyone drawing. The theme for this year’s event is Living Lines.

The Leventhorpe art department have taken this theme one step further to create Living Paintings. We have selected five famous and recognizable paintings which will be brought to life through full sized theatre sets and living, breathing models.

Drop in to meet and draw from Magritte’s men in suits, Degas’ ballet dancers and even Frida Kahlo herself. Our Big Draw this year is part drawing event and part performance, as each of the paintings starts to move and come alive. Who can say what might happen?

No previous experience is necessary, just an enthusiastic approach.

The Leventhorpe Big Draw is a free event for the local community. It is open to anyone aged 8 to 108.

Each session will run for 1 hour starting at 6.30pm and 7.30pm. All equipment will be provided.

This drop-in event will be held in the main school hall. Plenty of parking available.
