Victory in Europe Day - 80 Years

The town of Sawbridgeworth will be marking this historic day with a programme of events throughout the day as follows. Everyone is welcome to these events, please follow our Facebook page for up to date information.
- •9am – Raising of V E Day Flags around the town.
- 10.30am (TBC) - RAF Shingle Hall Airfield - Laying of wreaths
- •11.40am – A service of Reflection and Remembrance around the War Memorial in Great St Marys Churchyard, followed by Bagpiper Richard Mackenzie who will play in line with the pipers on the Four Peaks.
- •6.30pm – Ringing out in Celebration of Peace, the Great St Marys bell ringers will join the national ringing across the United Kingdom.
- 6.30pm - Parade of 309 ATC Squadron and Marching Band along with uniformed services will parade from Great St Marys, into Fair Green, Up Bell Street and around into the car park event area.
- 6.30pm - Evening event in Bell Street Car Parks, live entertainment, games, food stalls, information, and exhibition in the Town Council Chamber.
- •9pm – V E Day Proclamation to read out by the Mayor of Sawbridgeworth, Cllr Reece Smith.
- •9.30pm – Lighting of the Beacon followed by national singing of ‘I Vow To Thee Thy County’.
